Fondazione Social Venture Giordano Dell’Amore

Veinshow is a start-up that has developed a highly innovative medical device in the healthcare sector, which with a “kids-friendly” approach, is able to facilitate blood sampling in newborns and monitoring some vital parameters in real time. The device can be adequately covered with a sterilizable and colored silicone cover and is also equipped with a broad spectrum lighting system behind it, which favors rapid identification of the venous network allowing faster and more efficient sampling. In addition, through a controlled tourniquet and an internal sensor system, it allows you to detect vital parameters in real time – such as oxygen saturation levels, heart rate, blood pressure and temperature.

Veinshow was empowered by Get it!, the impact investment readiness program of Fondazione Social Venture GDA

Veinshow team successfully participated at the first Call for Impact Welfare, Health & Wellnessof Get it!: the Foundation program, realized in partnership with Cariplo Factory, offered the startup an incubation program at the ComoNExT – Innovation Hub accelerator and mentorship, in synergy with Nicola Mezzetti, Epoca’s Strategy and Innovator partner.
Thanks to the program, the Veinshow team has embarked on a path of growth and enhancement of the business project, allowing it to interface with an audience of investors interested in supporting the startup strategy.

Impatto sociale

As emerged from a series of tests carried out, Veinshow has an immediate positive impact on the psycho-physical well-being of children undergoing the first blood sampling: in fact, it reduces stress levels and improves the doctor-patient relationship, also in the future perspective. The device, however, can prove particularly effective in emergency situations, in which it is necessary to intervene promptly. Furthermore, from the data collected by the team working on the device, it has been found that every minute spent for the identification of a patient’s venous network translates into additional costs for any National Health System: generally, in a medium-sized hospital 159 thousand hours of time for healthcare workers who could be used elsewhere and 53 thousand euros of materials (needles, sterile cannulas, patches, etc.) are wasted every month, which remain unusable and to be disposed of. The start-up can significantly affect the optimization of these processes, contributing to the reduction of related waste.
