Il Grigio is a Type B Social Cooperative based in Calolziocorte (LC) that has been dedicated for over 15 years to the work integration of disadvantaged individuals, supporting their transition out of unemployment through training and professional development programs. Founded in 2008, the Cooperative was established with the aim of providing concrete responses to the local employment needs in the Lecco area, with particular attention to social inclusion and sustainability.
From its early years, the Cooperative has specialized in environmental services, focusing on green area maintenance, collection of special waste for recovery, and asbestos removal. Since 2014, Il Grigio has expanded its scope of activities by launching services in the food sector: catering for events, meal preparation for schools and companies, and the establishment of the “Pasteto” workshop, dedicated to the production of fresh pasta and gastronomy products. In 2024, the Cooperative took over the management of the “Offi Coffee” café/bistro, located within Officina Badoni, a former industrial complex recently renovated by the Fondazione Comunitaria del Lecchese, now serving as a welcoming community gathering and social hub.
A particularly significant aspect of the Cooperative’s work is its collaboration with Caritas Ambrosiana, focused on managing a centralized warehouse for the collection and distribution of essential goods to parish-based listening centers, as well as the creation of a food hub for the recovery and redistribution of surplus food.
Fondazione Social Venture Giordano Dell’Amore has invested €280,000 as a financial partner in the Il Grigio Social Cooperative. This entry into the Cooperative’s shareholder structure took place within the framework of “Impact4Coop 2”, a program promoted in collaboration with Fondazione Cariplo, which provides €1.8 million to support the capital strengthening and development of the cooperative sector.
