Fondazione Social Venture Giordano Dell’Amore

AltroVerso

AltroVerso S.r.l. is a Social Enterprise founded in January 2021 in Palermo, established as a service company primarily dedicated to the non-hotel accommodation sector. The initiative provides laundry, cleaning, and room turnover services. Since the very beginning of its activities, AltroVerso has placed the promotion of socio-occupational inclusion and the empowerment of people in vulnerable conditions at the core of its mission, with a particular focus on NEETs and migrant women at risk of marginalization living in the Palermo area.

Over the years, AltroVerso has progressively expanded its operations thanks to the support of several foundations, including Fondazione Peppino Vismara, Fondazione San Zeno, Fondazione Haiku Lugano, and Fondazione Prosolidar, which have contributed to financing the project and the development of its activities. The main service offered by AltroVerso is industrial laundry, which provides washing and rental services for linen such as sheets and towels, targeting operators in the non-hotel accommodation sector. Its client base is broad and diverse and includes small and medium-sized hospitality businesses, such as bed and breakfasts, independent hotels, private short-term rentals, guesthouses, serviced apartments, and hostels.

The initial project envisioned the parallel development of both laundry and cleaning services; however, over time the company decided to concentrate most of its resources on laundry activities, which have been identified as the core business and the main area of investment.

With the aim of supporting the high-impact activities promoted by AltroVerso, Fondazione Social Venture Giordano Dell’Amore invested €50,000 in equity in the social enterprise. This investment will help drive the achievement of impact objectives while simultaneously strengthening the company’s capital base, with clear benefits for its ability to attract new investors and funders.

The investment by Fondazione Social Venture Giordano Dell’Amore is also intended to support AltroVerso’s broader development plan, which includes the relocation of its operations to a new industrial facility of approximately 400 square meters, currently undergoing renovation and upgrading, and destined to become the company’s new operational hub. The new site will be located in the southern coastal area of Palermo, a complex part of the city that is expected to undergo significant urban regeneration and redevelopment in the coming years.

The transition from a small artisanal workshop to an industrial warehouse, together with the purchase of new industrial equipment, represents a strategic step within the development plan. Through this growth pathway, AltroVerso aims to increase production capacity, improve operational efficiency, and create new employment opportunities, fully in line with its mission as a social enterprise.

Impact

AltroVerso S.r.l. – Social Enterprise continues to stand out as an organization capable of combining service quality, organizational innovation, and social and environmental impact, generating value for both the local area and the wider community. Through an integrated service package that includes cleaning and laundry services, AltroVerso offers hospitality businesses a coordinated solution, eliminating the need to rely on multiple suppliers. This model simplifies the management of human resources, contracts, and costs, ensuring greater operational efficiency and flexibility in the day-to-day management of hospitality activities.

AltroVerso’s impact also extends to local development by promoting partnerships among for-profit and non-profit organizations as well as public institutions, and by creating medium- to long-term training pathways designed to strengthen people’s skills and foster stable, high-quality employment. These pathways are conceived to generate lasting impact, delivering tangible benefits both for the workers involved and for the territory in which the enterprise operates.

At the heart of AltroVerso’s work lies socio-occupational inclusion. Through a “critical consumption” model, the social enterprise integrates essential services for the hospitality sector with real job placement opportunities for people from vulnerable backgrounds. The goal is to build welcoming, safe, and inclusive work environments in which everyone can develop skills, autonomy, and confidence in their professional journey.

AltroVerso’s impact is also environmental. By adopting the principles of the circular economy as a cornerstone of its sustainability model, the enterprise uses energy sourced 100% from renewable sources, recyclable materials, and low environmental impact products. These concrete choices help reduce the ecological footprint and protect the planet, demonstrating that it is possible to do business in a responsible way.

AltroVerso’s activities contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
